Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has appointed Sudhir Sitapati as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Nisaba Godrej, currently the Chairperson and Managing Director of the company, will continue to serve as Executive Chairperson.

Sitapati has spent 22 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he led teams across categories and functions in India, Europe, South East Asia, and Africa.

He was appointed to the HUL Management Committee as an Executive Director in 2016, making him one of its youngest ever members. Under Sudhir’s leadership, HUL built up its Foods and Refreshments business as one of the largest in India. This included the $5 billion merger and integration of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare with HUL, the largest deal of its kind in the FMCG sector in India.

Sitapati has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a B.Sc in Math with Economics Honours from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Quarterly results

The company also announced its fourth quarter results. For the fourth quarter ended March 2021, GCPL posted a profit of Rs 365 crore and a total income of Rs 2,747 crore, against a profit of Rs 229 crore and a total income of 2,202 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Commenting on the business performance, Nisaba Godrej, Chairperson and Managing Director, GCPL, said: "We delivered a third consecutive quarter of double-digit sales growth. From a category perspective, we saw continued strong growth momentum in the household insecticides and hygiene categories. From a geography perspective, India grew at 35 per cent. "

"Going forward, we are investing behind consumer-centric innovations and serving our consumers across all price points. To enable this, we are strengthening our supply chain operations and distribution networks. We are also building up our digitisation capabilities and channels like e-commerce and chemists," Godrej said.
