GENERAL

• All participants must be Indian nationals residing in India.
• Students registering for the QOTY School Contest must be from bona fide schools and studying in classes 9-12 (or its equivalent in registered junior colleges) in the academic year 2023-24.
• Students must have access to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop/desktop computer (each of suitable OS and specifications required to download and operate the Sony LIV app) and a stable internet connection in order to participate.
• On behalf of minor contestants, parents/legal guardians must read and accept all Terms & Conditions of the contest (including the Privacy Policy) to facilitate participation. Any major contestants must accept the same on their own.
• On behalf of minor contestants, parents/legal guardians must read and accept the Terms of Use of the Sony Liv app (including the Privacy Policy) to participate. Any major contestants must accept the same on their own.

QOTY DAILY (App Quizzes, WebApp):

• Open to all including students reading in classes 9 to 12.
• There is no age limit to participate.
• These quizzes are for individual players.
• This contest vertical has no participation fee.

QOTY SELECT (App Quizzes, WebApp):

• Students of classes 9-12 who score a minimum of 500 points by a pre-announced cut-off date in QOTY Daily are eligible to play QOTY Select.
• Students are required to submit a participation fee of INR 100 in order to activate QOTY Select and become eligible for the QOTY School Contest (QOTY Select, QOTY City 1 & 2, QOTY Nationals). Students are advised to make the requisite payment on or before the last date ahead of the first appointed QOTY Select quiz.
• Students should broadly be in the 13-18 years age bracket as on 1st April 2023.
• Since the medium of conduct for the QOTY School Contest is English, students should be proficient in the same.

QOTY CITY:

• Students qualifying for QOTY City must have access to a smartphone and a laptop/desktop computer equipped with video-conferencing peripherals (camera, speakers/headphones, and microphone), pre-installed Kahoot App, Zoom App, and a stable internet connection good enough to support these.
• The parents/guardians of students entering QOTY City 1 & 2 must consent to their wards using the Kahoot App and Zoom App for participation in QOTY City 1 & 2, and all subsequent rounds of the QOTY School Contest, should they qualify.
• QOTY City – 2 onwards, participation of individuals/teams will be subject to School Principals submitting verified documents (as listed in the Terms & Conditions document) by email (using the official email ID of the school/principal) to the organizers on or before the cut-off date as communicated in the selection intimation email.

QOTY CITY – 1:

• Students must mandatorily have played QOTY Select. The top scoring 1000 individual students from each City Zone will qualify to participate in QOTY City – 1.
• Students will be required to play QOTY City – 1 as individuals.
• Teams will be formed post QOTY City – 1 and before the conduct of QOTY City – 2.

TEAM FORMATION FOR QOTY CITY – 2:

• The first 8 top rankers of QOTY City – 1 who have at least one other schoolmate in the eligibility pool will automatically qualify for QOTY City – 2.
• These 8 students will automatically form teams with the second ranker of their school.
• To be allowed to participate, it is imperative that this second team member must:
  • belong to the same branch of the school,
  • have qualified all preceding stages of the QOTY School Contest,
  • and feature in the 50th percentile to be able to participate.
• Any top rankers in the absence of other eligible schoolmates will have to bow out since QOTY City – 2 onwards, this is a teamed contest.
• Schools as well as the individual members of the selected teams will be sent a detailed email inviting them to participate and informing them of the next steps.
• Schools will be responsible for promptly sending acceptance emails replete with all requisite, duly filled documentation of their teams, so formed and communicated by the organisers.
• The 9th team (formed in exactly the same manner as described above) from each city zone will be the standby team. Schools and team members will be informed by email and updated of their participation status as and when necessary.
• Participation of teams will be confirmed by SonyLIV post successful verification of the submitted documents.

QOTY CITY – 2:

• This stage of the competition will have 2 members per team per school.
• Only one top scoring team per school and branch will be permitted to participate.
• Different branches of a school will be considered as different school entities.

QOTY NATIONALS:

• The winning teams of the QOTY City – 2 contests from each City Zone will qualify for the QOTY Nationals.
• Participants will be required to travel to a prescribed city for the episode recordings in a studio setup as per the recording schedules.

• The QOTY School Contest for eligible students includes QOTY Daily, QOTY Select, QOTY City Rounds 1 and 2, and QOTY Nationals.
• There will be regular appointment-based SPECIAL QUIZZES on the app. These will be open to all.
• Once the payment gateway for QOTY Select is activated and contestants submit the contest entry fee, practice quizzes will be made available for those who fulfil all eligibility criteria for the QOTY School Contest.

InfoQ RATING:

• Information Quotient or InfoQ is a unique rating system created specifically to help quizzers quantify and track their general knowledge and quizzing prowess.
• This rating is calculated as a percentage of the average overall QOTY Daily score of each player.
• Every time a player scores full points in a quiz, one additional point is added to their InfoQ number.
• Players may track their InfoQ using the QOTY App.
• The purpose of playing QOTY Daily as well as all other appointment based special occasion quizzes is to attain the highest possible scores and keep raising your InfoQ.

QOTY Specials:

• Open to all users including students.
• These are special periodic theme-based quizzes on the app for practice, points and prizes.
• Date and time announcements will be made prominently from time to time.
• Points earned playing QOTY Specials will not impact the InfoQ Rating.
• There is no participation fee.

PLATFORMS:

• QOTY Daily, QOTY Specials and QOTY Select will be played on the SonyLiv App.
• QOTY City - 1 will be played on the Kahoot App during a live Zoom call session.
• QOTY City - 2 will be played on Zoom with a special game software. The proceedings will be recorded and streamed on Sony Liv App.
• QOTY Nationals (Final Rounds) will be played in a physical studio environment. Details and all necessary instructions will be communicated to the qualifiers.

CITY ZONES:

• All merit lists for each subsequent stage of the contest after QOTY Select will be created city zone wise.
• For the purposes of this contest, the entire country has been divided into 16 city zones as below:

Format Of Gameplay:

QOTY DAILY:

• QOTY Daily is a daily quiz game. You can attempt it once every day or catch up before the contest week comes to an end.
• The daily cycle starts at 00:00 hrs (midnight) and ends at 23:59 hrs.
• The weekly cycle starts on Sunday at midnight and ends on Saturday at midnight.
• The faster you answer each question correctly, the higher your rank will be.
• Each quiz will have 7 questions.
• There will be 3 answer options to choose from.
• A maximum time duration of 10 seconds will be given to answer each question.
• Players will receive 10 points for every correct answer. No negative marking.
• Time up is marked as a wrong answer.
• If the game screen is exited at any point in the game before finishing the last question, the player can’t join back and continue/re-attempt the quiz at any point thereafter.
• You can check the leader board to know your daily, weekly, and all-time rankings.
• Date-wise QOTY Daily leader boards will continue to update till the end of the weekly cycle.
• Students will have to earn at least 500 points playing QOTY Daily to qualify for the QOTY School Contest and pay a participation fee for the same to Sony LIV in order to participate further, should they qualify.

QOTY SELECT:

• QOTY Select is a single appointment quiz which will be played on a pre-announced date and time by all contenders. If needed, more than one such selection test may be scheduled.
• Each quiz will have 20 questions.
• A time duration of 10 seconds will be given to answer each question.
• Players will receive 10 points for every correct answer.
• There will be no negative marking.
• Player rank will depend on score as well as the total time taken to answer the question set.
• Up to 1000 top contestants from each city zone will qualify for QOTY City – 1 that will take place on the Kahoot App during a live Zoom call session.
• The list of qualifiers will be prepared city-zone-wise.

QOTY CITY – 1 (ZOOM/KAHOOT):

• The top qualifying participants of QOTY Select from each city zone will take part in this round.
• This round will be played on appointed dates and time designated for each city zone. Details and instructions will be communicated to the qualifiers well in advance.
• This round will be played on the Kahoot App during a live Zoom video call session.
• Each quiz will have 20 questions.
• A time duration of 10 seconds will be given to answer each question.
• Points will be calculated on the basis of correct answers and the time taken for each correct answer. The faster you answer correctly, the more points you accrue.
• The top 8 teams (16 individual participants) from every city zone will qualify for QOTY City – 2, the episodic live quizzes.
• The 9th team on the list will be the standby team.

QOTY CITY – 2 (ZOOM/KAHOOT/SYNQ ZONE):

• This host driven, interactive, formatted quiz will be conducted on Zoom. The entire proceedings will be recorded, post-produced, and streamed on the SonyLiv App or any other platform that Sony LIV may decide on.
• The top 8 teams from each of the 16 city zones will take part in these episodic live quizzes.
• The 16 winning teams from the 16 QOTY City Rounds will qualify for the QOTY Nationals.

QOTY NATIONALS (SONYLIV/TV):

• This stage of the contest will have 4 prelims, 2 semi-finals, and 1 grand finale.

• The faster you answer correctly, the higher your rank will be.
• Each quiz will have15 questions.
• There will be 3 answer options to choose from.
• A maximum time duration of 10 seconds will be given to answer each question.
• Players will receive 10 points for every correct answer. No negative marking.
• Time Up is marked as a wrong answer.
• For those tied at the same score the player with the faster timing would rank higher.
• If the game screen is exited at any point in the game before finishing the last question, the player can’t join back and continue/re-attempt the quiz at any point thereafter.
